I hate when books call me OUT!

OK planning is not my strongest suit, taking action is and this was totally called out in the book, The 12 Week Year., I did take time to plan!

I hate when books call me out…

The book, The 12 Week Year, by Moran and Lemmington, totally called me out. Their book shares this system to take time to vision your success then set tactics for 12 weeks to reach your smart and measurable goals in 12 weekly tactics. The 12 week tactics are the key as annual goals are too long and they get “fuzzy” as a client of mine shared recently. Yet when they said type A folks with a bias toward action tend to skip the planning part and just start doing things… I felt called out. I tend to jump into action and plan afterwards at times. There are plans yet at times they do get fuzzy when they stretch out too long. I was recently at the Brave Enough conference and the speakers were wonderful at having us write down in detail what we want in 1, 3 and 5 years…when I wrote it down some things actually surprised me. I am also attending the ROI conference in January, I love that conference so much, it is a powerful way to start the year. Dr. Una also taught me to plan the next year now, in October. So as you see I surround myself with those that are intentional so I can learn from the experts.

So, if you feel called out like me…know you are not alone. Some of us jump into action and think knowing what to do is the same as planning what to do. The book, the 12 week year, also shared research showing that when you carefully plan your goals you can save up to 20% of your time. I am now running a Women Doc Accountability group, we are working on how to prime your brain to see possibilities, then setting goals that align with their values and purpose so that they can leave an impact in this world with their special gifts. We can all learn and grow, that is the wonderful news of the day.

I do have my next 12 weeks planned, down to the weekly actions needed to hit my goals. Many thanks to my life teachers that stressed the importance and efficiency of having and enacting a plan. Consistency and discipline for the win!

I am taking names for those professional women out there that are looking for a supportive community and a clear system to bust those fuzzy goals and find clarity for 2025, based on research and simple strategies. Write 2025 in the comments and I will put your name on the list for my new The Art of Joy at Work Club, those that join in 2024 will maintain their deep discounted monthly rate. We will have time to envision our dreams, set them into action and watch our 2025 shine with intention and purpose so you can use your amazing gifts to leave an impact in your community. A supportive community is key when we are building new behaviors and gaining insights in finding joy in our lives now rather than later when all the challenges subside. I love reading all the research and sharing stepping stones to boost joy as a busy woman in the professional space.
